VIGO. Two finals in the two first tournaments in World Padel Tour. But, in Vigo Open, the 2-ranked pair Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez surprisingly got knocked out already in the round of 16 by this season's surprise, Victoria Iglesias and Aranzazu Osoro.
Before the tournament, Paula Josemaria said that the pair came to Vigo in good feeling.
— We are getting more integrated as a pair for every day, Paula Josemaria said to Padel Alto.
She commented on the disappointment in the final in Alicante Open, where Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez only won one game, 0-6, 1-6.
— We did not manage to bring out the best level. We were far below our highest. Every day we continue working so that bad moments are less.
She continues:
— We had a plan for the final, but we didn't manage to implement it. We played too poorly and tried, but we couldn't
But there was no revenge in the Vigo Open, where it ended up already in the round of 16. It was a big surprise that Victoria Iglesias and Aranzazu Osoro won against the 2-ranked pair with the comfortable numbers 6-3, 6-4.
Victoria Iglesias and Aranzazu Osoro are now ready for the quarter-final and have played great padel at the start of the season. Last time, in Alicante, the pair went all the way to the semifinals after beating Marta Ortega and Marta Marrero.
”Fist up, partner. Now we are in the quarter-final,” writes Victoria Iglesias after their victory against Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.
